The main character of the movie “The Pharmacist” – Dan Schneider, a pharmacist from the small town of Poydras, Louisiana, whose son is tragically killed in a drug-related shooting. Dan goes to great lengths to find his killer and get justice. He succeeds, but his investigation uncovers a much larger problem. “I started noticing a lot of young people my son’s age coming into my pharmacy with prescriptions for opioid medications, particularly OxyContin,” Schneider says.
The pharmacist is turning his personal grief into a veritable crusade to help expose corruption among the powerful figures behind the devastating opioid addiction epidemic that has unfolded in the United States.
